I bought this on line. It was advertised that it was made of seashells. When it arrived it had a very strong old perfume smell. I imagine it was the perfume a bride wore on her wedding day long ago. It wasn't until I bathed the bridal crown and dried it that I realized it wasn't shells at all! It was made up of beautiful wax flowers! I was stunned. I didn't know about wax flowers. I find it fascinating. These appear to be very old. Much of their luster is gone. I've seen where a pearlized wax can be purchased. I do not know if that would be the way to bring them back to their former luster. I imagine this crown needs to be taken apart and rebuilt by someone with patience and knowledge of the process.
It still has the smell of perfume though it is much softer than when it first arrived. The bridal tulle is in tatters. A skilled wax flower artisan could make this into something amazing. My thoughts are it is enough flowers to possibly make more than one crown. It is a special piece. I'm glad to learn a little about the beauty and delicacy of wax flowers. They are more exciting and precious than anything I'd imagined. I hope they become a glorious part of someones wedding day. I hope they will be cherished forever.
