I STAKE MY REPUTATION ON THE FACT THAT THIS SIGN I (and others ) are selling is a COMPLETE FANTASY, FAKE, NEWER (like 1999 era) SIGN!!!

not REAL as naive people or crooks claim
. Shown in the first eight photos ONLY.
This is not a standard size sign, but just 6" by 17¾", some say 6" by 18", same as many common fake new reproduction signs like this one. A few tiny rub marks from storage on back. Day One gloss and shine. It should, it's not that old!

Don't pay over .00-.00 for a FANTASY "Man Cave" sign like this one, many offered on ebay right now with hundreds more available!
I never dreamed 42 years ago when I started collecting antiques, I would turn into a "free educator", sharing my knowledge! Yet, I cannot sit by and watch naive buyers pay to 2 for a FAKE like this one, thinking they are getting some "proven old by it's gold painted back" sign!
This one has the back painted GOLD. It looks silver in the photos due to the flash, but trust me, it is the light gold one which some sellers claim is "original" from the 1950's OR 1960's, because they say the "white back" ones are the only fake repros!
I have BOTH now in my possession, one is painted WHITE and THIS ONE is painted GOLD,
but both are FAKE
. Some even attempt to make these look old by beating them to chip paint, scratching the front or back, soaking in water, and then burying them to try to have some rust appear at least in spots. Then they try to sell them as from "the 1960's" or "1950's"! However, a huge flaw in that theory.
Vernor's dropped the apostrophe from their name and signs by the end of 1959! There is NO way EITHER sign is from the 1960's, even if they were real.
If people could feel the
flimsiness
before buying, they would understand it is a new lightweight fake.
They could also compare the cheap thin paint jobs to actual old 1950's signs.
They never made original old signs like this with either a white or gold painted back. Signs like this in the 1950's had a green or mottled grey/green back paint, as anyone with a couple years experience in signs knows. Just an easily duplicated fake design, without paying attention to the details of the originals, such as size, color, and weight.
Also, Vernor's almost ALWAYS had a Mfg. name or a "Form #" on the lower border of their signs. Neither of this size fantasy ones has either, as one can readily see from the photos!
