Nest 2nd generation thermostat plus back plate "as is"

Description

Nest 2nd generation thermostat plus backplates "as is".
I cut a wire outside while weed eating and HVAC company said it made the backplate on my Nest go bad. It would basically show cooling but it didn't turn the a/c on. Thought it might be the connector for the Y1 or Rc on backplate because I could directly connect the wires and the air would kick in. I ended up replacing it with a Nest 3 and everything is working fine with my A/C.
I believe the actual Nest thermostat main component is fine because I swapped it with my other Nest 2 upstairs and it worked perfectly. Someone smarter then me can  probably figure it out, but my kids need air downstairs so I don't have time to mess with it.
