The patch is one of twenty position patches that were worn by officers and employees of the Pennsylvania Game Commission.
The Pennsylvania Game Commission is the wildlife management agency in the State of Pennsylvania.
These patches were worn on official agency uniforms from 1965 until 1979.
At that time, the agency abandoned the policy of having employees wear position specific patches on their uniforms and went to a standard patch for all uniformed employees that read Pennsylvania Game Commission, Established 1895.
The 20 position patches are now sought after by collectors of Pennsylvania Game Commission items and artifacts.
A Deputy Game Protector would have worn this specific patch.
These employees were issued uniforms and paid per diem expenses but were not full time employees of the agency.
They were considered part time employees who for the most part volunteered their time to assist and work with and under the direction of, the full time employee, the District Game Protector.
These patches do not appear that much on Internet auction sites, as the originals are only available second market from a collector.
These patches were never sold to the public by the agency.
The patch is guaranteed to be an original and not duplication.
This very sought after patch features an uncut Keystone Shape Border of gold with a black twill material background.
In the center of the Patch is the State of Pennsylvania Coat of Arms.
Surrounding the coat of arms is a gold border containing the words “
Deputy Game Protector
” in blue lettering.
Outside and above this lettering is the word “
Pennsylvania
” with “
Game Commission
” below the border.
All this lettering is in gold. The patch measures 4” by 4 ½”. The backing on the patch is the old style gauze type, which farther indicates the age of the patch.
This type of backing was typical of uniform patches made in that era.
The patch we are selling in this eBay Listing and the patch you will receive are new / unused and have not been sewn on any garment, material or item.
The patch you will receive will be in excellent condition and the same as the one seen in the photographs. We do use stock photographs in our listing ads which means the patch you will receive may or may not vary slightly in color or patch detail.
Also, the artist's signature may or may not vary also.
The patch you receive will be an original, new patch, signed by the artist but some patches in the production run do vary slightly from patch to patch and though a person's signature is the same from patch to patch, it will vary in location or exact form.

In doing so, it will include delivery confirmation along with barcode addressing.
