Star of Damascus
For centuries when a sword blade was thoroughly tested as to hardness, flexibility, etc., it was so indicated by a six pointed star etched on the upper part of the blade.  This stamp was known as the "Star of Damascus" and all VANGUARD swords bear this seal of excellence to show that they have passed the tests entitling the usage of this proving mark.
To Clean, Rub Gently with a soft dry cloth.
Do not clean with Chemically Treated Cloth or Abrasive.
