Vintage 1970s Edwardian Wedding dress.Coming out of the bright and bold 1960’s fashions, the 1970’s brought forth an Edwardian revival. Almost for the same reason that cottagecore fashion has been trending the past few years- women wanted to appear delicate and whimsical. Lace and pastels were hugely popular, along with “peasant dresses”, and wedding dresses were, and still are, the greatest reflection for the styles that were popular during the decade. The 1970’s sat right before the big mass-produced era of the 1980’s and beyond, so a lot of the clothing from this decade still had a lot of sweet, handmade detailing you won’t find on clothes today. The seams on this dress are single stitched, and pinked, and for being over 50 years old, the only flaw I found was a small hole on the bottom hem. Even the elastic on the shoulders still has a bit of stretch to it. The movement really communicates the romantic feel the Edwardian revival brought forth. I’d say this dress was made between 1969-1971.
