    Description

    BEING SOLD INDIVIDUALLY.
For sale five (5) (being sold individually) vintage rectifiers, believed to be FANSTEEL Model BA 215M.  These rectifiers are in very good physical condition.  The terminals or spades are very clean, and do not look like they have been used.  Some paint has chipped or rubbed away from the rectifier terminals and heads of the bolts.  It is noted that they were loose in a parts organizer bin, and were in contact with each other.  Jostling may account for the paint loss, but it could also be attributed to other factors.  The rectifiers have not been tested.
The reason I believe these could be Fansteel rectifiers is a combination of the following information:
    (1) The trademark appears to be a capital "F", with five dashes "fanning" out on all sides from it.  Fansteel didn't get it's more modern trademark until April 23, 1945, but had started manufacturing rectifiers as early as 1923.  I was unable to locate a very early Fansteel trademark or logo.  It is possible the "F" with the 5 dashes is an early version of it.
    (2) The alpha/numeric designator "BA215M" on the five rectifiers for sale closely matches Fansteel's designations for other Fansteel rectifiers I was able to locate.  Some of them included BR070M, BR066M, BF076FM, BE060M, BR036M, BA084M, BG348M,BC066M, BD030M, BD050M, BD082M, among others.  Fansteel used other letters to begin and end their designators, but there were quite a few with a "B" starting the designation, followed by another letter, then 3 numbers, and finally ending with a capital "M."  This pattern of naming did not seem to be followed, at least universally, by other rectifier manufacturers.
    3) The Fansteel cylindrical rectifiers are usually painted the same shade of gray as those in this listing.
    4) Other Fansteel terminals used a "yellow" "red" "black" striping system as did the ones in this listing.
    5) The Fansteel terminals observed on other rectifiers uniformly were rounded, as are the ones in this listing.
    6) A Fansteel advertisement circa 1957 had a single "F" with what appeared to be a sprig of wheat or other plant.
    7) The capital letters "MJ" appear on other Fansteel rectifiers I was able to view, as they do on the listed rectifiers.
The above information is not conclusive, but does indicate the rectifiers being offered for sale stand a good chance of having been manufactured by Fansteel.
If someone knowledgeable about Fansteel corporate history, or anyone with specific knowledge regarding these rectifiers could contact me and provide some enlightenment, it would be greatly appreciated!  If these rectifiers are older than the Fansteel switch to their 1945 trademark (the Fansteel name with a full wave, a rectifier symbol, and rectified wave weaving through it), these rectifiers listed for sale would be very nice memorabilia or collectibles of Fansteel history.  Fansteel was instrumental in the spread of radios, and other communications; and played a major role in WWII.
These rectifiers were obtained from the estate of a serious radio hobbyist.
Please refer to the information obtained from the rectifiers as noted above and the photographs for any information regarding their capabilities and condition.
Price of .95 quoted is for one Vintage rectifier, believed to be a Fansteel Model BA 215M.
Note:  Buyer is responsible for the proper use and installation of these rectifiers in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.  It is the Buyer's responsibility to ensure the rectifiers are appropriate for the use intended.  Seller is not responsible for any damages related to the use of these rectifiers beyond their actual cost and shipping charges.
