    Description

Up for bid is a nice, estate sale find...a vintage wedding gown. The family at the estate sale, showed me a photo of their Mom in the dress on her wedding day. I Googled the couple and they were married June 21, 1955 and celebrated 60 years in 2015.
The daughter, at the auction, offered me a beat up old box that the gown was in, and I told her I didn't want it. I could kick myself, as the box might have had some info on it, like who made it. It looks homemade to me, but if it had a box, probably it isn't. It is beautifully made, and I cannot even imagine the time to make it!!! The gown has no tags in it,,,anywhere!
The gown's most noticeable flaw are 3 brown spots-one on each side of collar, and one on chest(photos 2 and 3). Oddly enough, the spots are around the white seed bead designs. One other flaw, is a tear in the lace, on the left side of the bodice(photo 9). I did not notice this at first(it has another layer of lace under it, and then a layer of satin under that.
The gown has an ivory(?) color satin bodice and gown(photos 2 and 6). It has lace sleeves with 8 lace covered buttons at ends(photo 4)/ lace collar/lace over bodice area. It has a row of 42  tiny lace covered buttons with elastic hoop closures up the back of the dress(photo 4). The collar and bodice have sequins sewn in designs and some white seed beads. White piping separates the bodice from the gown. Gown has scalloped lace ruffle (photo 8) around waist to hip area(inside of gown is stiff mesh(photo 11) that I think would give the gown "pouff" here). The satin "gown" part is  approx. 6 feet wide, but falls into a large pleated look(photo 6). Over top of the satin gown are 2 layers and 2 tiers of white tulle(photo 7)
No size--no tags. It measures 15" pit to pit. 13" across where the piping is(waist) and approx. 62" long shoulder to hem.
The family at the sale, also, gave me the ring bearer's cushion(last photo)that the bride used at her wedding. It is white satin bordered with lace-approx. 12" in size
Really hopng someone would like to have this for display, school play...ANYTHING!! Really like it!! :)
Any questions, please contact us, thanks for looking, and have a nice day!!
